About the Class

This is the Tennessee state-approved 8-hour class required to qualify for the Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit. The morning is spent in the classroom — Tennessee carry law, safe handling, secure storage, and what your responsibilities look like as a permit holder. The afternoon moves to our indoor range here in Clarksville for the live-fire qualification.

You’ll walk out the same day with the certificate you need to submit with your state permit application. Our NRA-certified instructors are happy to answer questions throughout the day, whether you’re a first-time gun owner or you’ve carried for years.

Before Class Day: Apply for Your Permit

To submit your passing scores to the state, your instructor needs your Tennessee application confirmation number. Please complete the online application before class — the state issues your confirmation number the moment you submit it.

  1. Go to the official TN Driver Services e-Services Portal.
  2. Under Handgun Permits, click “Apply for a Permit.”
  3. Log in and complete the form (Name, Date of Birth, Driver License Number, and Social Security Number).
  4. Submit. The state displays your confirmation number on the printed page and emails it to you.
  5. Write it down or print the page — bring it with you to class.
Heads up: Without your application confirmation number, we can’t submit your passing scores to the state. It’s the most-missed step — please get it done before you arrive.
What to Bring

Eye protection, ear protection, and ammunition are all available for purchase at the range counter if you need them.

Tennessee state law: No firearms are allowed in the classroom. Please keep your handgun secured in your vehicle until the range portion of the class.
Scheduling & Refund Policy

Need a different date? The confirmation email you receive when you register includes a personal link to reschedule. You can move your seat to any open class date up to 24 hours before your scheduled start time — just click the link, pick a new date, and you’re set.

Within 24 hours of class, the schedule locks and the seat can no longer be changed online. Class fees are non-refundable, and no-shows aren’t refunded — your registration holds a seat we could have offered to another student.

If something comes up, please reschedule before the 24-hour window closes so you don’t lose your spot. Questions? Call us at (931) 802-8912.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the class?
Eight hours total — four hours of classroom instruction followed by four hours of range time, including the live-fire qualification. Both portions are completed in a single day.
How much does the class cost?
The class fee is $75. This covers all instruction, classroom materials, range use during the qualification, and same-day certificate issuance upon passing.
What is the minimum age?
You must be 18 years of age or older to take the class and qualify for the Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit.
Do I need to bring my own handgun?
Bringing your own handgun is recommended so you train and qualify with the gun you’ll actually carry. If you don’t own a suitable handgun, rentals are available — just let us know when you register.
What ammunition do I need?
A minimum of 50 rounds of factory-loaded, brass-cased ammunition. No steel-cased ammo and no reloads on our range.
Can I bring my firearm into the classroom?
No. Per Tennessee state law, no firearms are allowed in the classroom. Your handgun stays secured in your vehicle until the range portion of the class.
Do I get my carry permit at the end of the class?
You receive a certificate the same day showing you passed the written and live-fire portions. You then submit that certificate to the State of Tennessee with your permit application — the state issues the actual permit.
What if I need to reschedule?
Your confirmation email includes a personal link to reschedule. You can move to any open class date up to 24 hours before your scheduled start time. Within 24 hours of class, the schedule locks and the fee is non-refundable.
